Health Benefits of Ginger
Ginger is absolutely amazing and is so overlooked when it comes to incorporating it into our daily lives to boost health and wellness. It is loaded with so many antioxidants that help protect your body’s cells. Gingerol is the main bioactive compound that is found in ginger, and is responsible for most of the medicinal benefits it contains. It has anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce inflammation and bloating and helps combat digestion issues by helping release toxins from the body. I take these ginger shots right in the morning on an empty stomach because it kickstarts your digestive system for the day and will help break down and absorb nutrients from the food you eat! Essentially it boosts your metabolism! I have been learning over the past year that gut health is so so important and it is proven that gut health is directly related to your mental health and ginger is definitely a blessing when it comes to improving your gut health. And that is why I love these ginger shots because you can take a shot each day and you wildly benefit from it, and it so easy! Overall here are the reasons why I love making and taking these Easy Ginger Shots:
- they are incredibly easy to make
- boost immunity & digestion
- anti-inflammatory and reduces bloating
- powerful antioxidants (DNA protector)
- kickstarts your digestion
- improves overall gut health
- relieves indigestion pains & discomfort
Making These Easy Ginger Shots
When I talk about how easy these Ginger Shots are to make I am not exaggerating I swear! It’s why I love them so much! The only kitchen equipment you will need is a hand held food processor or blender, strainer or cheesecloth, and some type of bottle or jar to store your Ginger Shots in when you’re finished! I used to buy ginger shots so often from health stores, that I started to collect the reusable bottles because I promised myself I wouldn’t buy anymore and that I would start to make them! I always bought the ones in glass so that I could re-purpose them! It’s honestly worth it to have little bottles for these because It just makes things so much easier and come on, it’s so cute to have your own ginger shot bottles! I have also seen some cute ones on Amazon, but you can seriously use anything you can get your hands on! Below is a list of the simple ingredients you will need!
a large chunk of fresh ginger
fresh squeezed lemon juice
water or organic natural coconut water
cayenne pepper (digestive properties)
black pepper (inflammatory properties)
turmeric spice (potent inflammatory & antioxidant)
mint leaves (for freshness & flavour)
honey (optional sweetener- I typically don’t add)
Don’t stress if you don’t have everything on this list, really the most important ingredients are Ginger and Water so anything else is just an extra health benefit! Sometimes I will add everything and sometimes it’s much simpler, just depends on what I have on hand!
To start off you want to place a chunk of ginger or a few depending on the size of a food processor or blender, and add about 2/3 cup of water or coconut water in ratio to a chunk of ginger! Just don’t add too much water that it completely dilutes your ginger! You can also add in a few mint leaves here, it adds a really nice freshness and flavour! Blend this until the ginger has completely broken down and has formed a mixture with your water! Then simply run this through your cheesecloth or webbed strainer to remove the chunks and ginger skin! This creates a beautiful clear liquid and will be your base of the ginger shot! You may have to repeat this process over until you have the desired amount of juice (I usually repeat this 3 times to fill 7 Ginger Shots). Once you have strained this you can add the rest of the ingredients, such as cayenne pepper, black pepper, honey, turmeric spice and lemon juice! Mix until combined!
Now that you have your smooth and strained Ginger Juice you can now pour this into your Ginger Shot Glasses! You want to leave enough room in each container that you will be able to give it a little shake because the spices tend to go to the bottom when they are sitting! This is such an easy process and the benefits are so amazing! These Easy Ginger Shots that Boost Immunity & Digestion are a must in my daily routine! It has become a digestive ritual for me and my health & wellness and I know it will for you too! I can’t wait for you to try them out for yourself and watch the shift in your health!
