Making the Brownie Energy Balls
I start by toasting my walnuts slightly because it seriously changes the flavour and texture when you roast nuts before adding them to any recipe! You can do this in a pan on the stove top or in the oven! It super quick and in my opinion a necessary step! I roast mine in the oven at 325 just 10-12 minutes! After they have cooled slightly I add them to a food processor and pulse slightly before adding my dates and the rest of the ingredients! You can also use a blender too, I find it easier with a food processor because there is no liquid! After you slightly pulse the walnuts add your dates, hemp seeds, cacao or cocoa, sea salt, cinnamon and your optional protein powder for extra protein! Pulse everything together checking on the texture in between every few pulses! Once everything is pulsed together and mostly mixed, check your texture to see if it will be sticky enough to stick really well together when you make your energy balls! If it’s too crumbly not to worry just add more dates, or a little bit of honey! I sometimes always have to end up adding more dates, especially if I added in the extra protein powder. Once you reached a sticky dough roll out your balls to your desired size! Store in an airtight container and keep in the fridge or freezer for best keeping!

So easy, satisfying and nourishing all at the same time! That’s what I absolutely love about these brownie energy balls, perfect for being on the go, when you need a little energy boost, and even better to have on hand for when that sweet tooth kicks in! If your looking for another energy ball recipe I also have another favourite… check out these Chocolate Chip Protein Balls they’re just as good with a delicious cookie dough flavour!
