Faux Fur meets Street Style
Faux fur season has officially arrived and I couldn’t be more excited. I pretty much wait for the weather to get cold just so I can pull out my faux furs! By now I’m sure if you’ve been following along you know that I’ve always been a sucker for a good faux fur coat. I bought my first faux fur vest from the gap when I was in Grade 8 and it’s what started the obsession! I mean seriously, they’re timeless, chic, versatile and the comfiest + coziest clothing piece ever. It’s liked being wrapped in a blanket, but an incredibly fashionable one. I’m obsessed!
What I also love about faux furs is that they have been iconic since the beginning of fashion time, thats why it’s always so fun to find vintage furs by thrifting or second hand from someone you know! It makes them extremely unique and unlike any ones out there you can buy! I love thrifting in the fall/winter season because I know I can find some incredible faux furs that no one has! Street Styling & Faux Furs
I love styling them in different ways, faux furs are easy to dress up for any fancy occasion but also perfect to wear with your favourite pair of baggy jeans and a white top. That was my inspo for this look. Faux fur meets street style. Its funky, bold and such a vibe! Faux furs can take any outfit to the next level and they make you feel soooo chic and luxurious! Effortlessly Elegant
No matter what you decide to pair your faux fur with I can almost guarantee you one thing, that is you will look effortlessly elegant. There’s just something about a faux fur that makes you feel and look like a million dollars!! It’s an iconic look! When I travelled to Aspen last winter I felt SO at home because everywhere I looked girls were wearing furs. I saw all different kinds and styles, and they were all uniquely styled! But one of the main things they all had in common was that it was such an effortless look, it was like the faux fur did all the talking and all we had to do was the walking! That is what I call effortlessly elegant. That’s what inspired this look. I wanted your classic vibey street style look, but elevated with the faux fur being that star. It really did take it to a whole new level and I loved it! I will say this look was totally effortless, but I still felt so elegant!
Skate Shoes n’ Sneakers
Because this look was inspired by street style, I couldn’t help myself but become obsessed with the combo of a faux fur and a pair of skate shoes or sneakers. This combo is so cool, and gives me major hip street style vibes. The combo of my sneaker and the faux fur is what really gives this whole look a story and an overall theme, which is always my goal when styling. The sneaker keeps it casual and low key, but still giving you that street style edge and then the faux fur elevates it to a whole new level. It creates this gorgeous contrast. There are so many sneakers and skate shoes I love out there, and endless styles that would work amazing for faux furs! I just got this pair from a local sneaker shop called The Hype and I’m obsessed to say the least! They’re the adidas Handball Spezial Earth Strata Gum. I’ll share some of my other faves below as well!

Plush and Lush
One thing you can always count on when it comes to a good faux fur is that look of it being so plush and lush. Like that feeling when you get a brand new fuzzy blanket. Faux furs kind of work the same way. The plusher and lusher, the better. The faux fur I’m wearing in this look is from Gap, last years season. It’s not available anymore but I’ll link some very similar ones below for you as well as some of my favourites so far this season down below. I will tell you though, whenever I wear this coat people are actually obsessed with how soft and lucious it is! There’s nothing better than a plush and lush looking faux fur, and they feel incredible to wear as well! It’s a total win win! It’s always good to keep in mind the feeling and texture of faux furs when picking them out! There’s nothing better than snuggling up in a plush faux fur coat when the winter weather comes!
Favourite Faux Furs
Prints or Monochromes
There are two ways that have been catching my eye when it comes to styling faux furs. One, going with a fun print for the faux fur like a bold leopard print, or creating a monochromatic look to really get that old money/vintage look that I love. Both are really fun ways to style and play with faux furs in your wardrobe. Last weekend I spent the day out and about Christmas shopping and I styled this same coat with a pair of off white wide leg trousers, and a very similar coloured top. This created a beautiful monochrome look, and it worked stunningly. I love doing this with whites and creams in the winter season. Then on the other hand, it can be slightly more fun and edgy to go with a patterned coat a showcase a little pattern poise! I styled my leopard coat with pattern poise when I was in Aspen last year, this was my favourite faux fur look! Either way if you go for a minimalist or maximalist look, a good faux fur coat can do you no wrong, I promise!
